Course Outline

  1.     12d Model 15 Fundamentals Course
  •          This course teaches you to navigate 12d Model 15, some of the key terminology, and how to view and create data.
  •          The Fundamentals course is a pre-requisite for this course. Completing the Fundamentals course unlocks the 12d Model Civil Design Basics Course.
  1.     12d Model 15 Civil Design Basics Course
  •          This course continues on from the Fundamentals course and teaches you the basics of civil design with 12d Model 15 as well as introducing to you some universal processes and workflows.
  •          We will import data from external files, then create surfaces from that data which we will then use as the basis for our design tasks.
  •          Before commencing the road design, we look at a pad design that enables us to explore our grading, interface, and volumetric analysis capabilities, as well as focus on streamlining the design process and automating where possible with the use of Chains.
  •          Next, for road design, we will create reference string horizontal and vertical geometry using the IP Method.
  •          We will also introduce the Element Method with a short example, and discuss the pros and cons of each of these methods.
  •          We will then set up our typical road geometry using templates and the Modifiers and Templates File, or MTF, then look at modifying our design to produce parking lanes, bus bays, and road crossfall modifications.
  •          We will also discuss how to design a simple T-intersection with kerb returns using the Apply MTF Manager.
  •          Once we have completed our design, we will cover how to create quick plots for our Plan, Section, and Perspective views, then set up customised cross-section, a long section, and plan frame plots using a Plot Parameter File, or PPF.
