Training & Learning
Who is it for?
For those just starting out, we help develop highly sought-after industry skills that employers value. For those further along in their careers, we support the development of specialised knowledge and capabilities that help to improve project efficiency at an organisational level.
For technical managers, CSI provides industry-focused and easy-to-access training which complements on-the-job training. While training junior staff is highly rewarding, it can also place significant time demands on senior employees. Our programs are designed to support new learners through comprehensive, structured training delivered by industry-experienced trainers, helping to reduce the challenge of internal training.
Why study with us:
At the Civil and Surveying Institute, our training is developed in consultation with industry groups and academia, ensuring the skills gained are relevant, current, and aligned with workforce needs in Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.
Our programs are designed to keep learners up to date with best practices and provide the tools needed to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving field. This ensures training remains relevant, current, and directly aligned with real-world workflows.
All courses are delivered by experienced industry professionals with deep expertise in their fields. Training is conducted using leading civil and surveying software, ensuring participants not only develop core civil engineering and surveying knowledge, but also gain practical experience with tools commonly used in industry.
Our trainers are highly experienced 12d Model practitioners with strong project backgrounds, combining technical expertise with applied industry knowledge. This ensures training remains relevant, current, and directly aligned with real-world workflows.
Training Options
At CSI, we recognise that a “one size fits all” approach does not suit technical training. We offer three distinct delivery options to support different learning needs and work environments:
- Instructor-Led (Online): Live, interactive sessions delivered via Microsoft Teams. Group sizes are kept small to encourage engagement, questions, and direct feedback from trainees. A 12d Model licence is provided for the duration of the course.
- SPOT (Self-Paced Online Training): Designed for professionals who need flexibility in their development, SPOT provides 24/7 access to structured learning materials so participants can upskill at a pace that suits their workload and project demands. The SPOT training platform includes a curated library of content for self-paced learning and practice. A 12d Model licence is included for the duration of the course (up to 12 months for selected programs). Participants also have access to email support, with timely responses from the support team and trainers.
- In-House & Public (In-Person): A practical option for team-based training. Sessions are delivered on-site or at a designated venue, with hands-on instruction and real-time demonstrations. Each participant works on their own machine to ensure effective application of skills.
- Note: In-house training is arranged upon request. For international clients, travel arrangements are confirmed on a case-by-case basis.
Certification
CSI provides formal recognition to support professional development and career progression. Depending on the training pathway, participants may receive:
- Certificates of Attendance
- Certificates of Completion
- Certificates of Competency (following successful completion of a proctored examination, currently available for the Civil Design Basics course, with plans to expand to additional courses)
For professionals seeking formal validation of their skills, proctored assessments provide a recognised benchmark of competency.
We look forward to supporting you as you begin, or continue, your learning journey with the Civil and Surveying Institute.
